Whale watching can be arranged from any number of tour operators with offices along the sea front. The season is June to September, when the humpback whales arrive on in the warm coastal waters looking for a mate. Boats generally set off mid-morning and return early afternoon. You may see individual whales, pairs or small groups of up to eight, and the massive whales can be observed jumping out of the water. These tours can also be arranged from other coastal towns, including Súa, Mompiche, Puerto Cayo, Manta, Montañita and Salinas.
