This cozy hostal has a great sense of family. The owner’s two sisters have restaurants less than half a block away that will bring you food if requested and her daughter has a tour operator that will offers whale-watching tours from June to October. The owner is also happy to share a spacious kitchen near the reception area for those who want to prepare their own meals and will even let you come back to use the bathroom and showers after you have checked out. The rooms are a bit of a squeeze and none have AC. There is capacity for about 40 guests.

At Fragata, the staff was so welcoming. I stayed there for two and a half weeks, so I got a great discount, and they were incredibly accomodating. My room had its own hammock and shower, and the hotel's proximity to the ocean provided a comfortable breeze, so that with the fan I could never have needed air conditioning. It's a great deal for backpackers, because although it costs significantly less than the hotels directly on the boardwalk, it is literally a few yards away, and you can hear the waves at night.
