Where to Book a galapagos Trip

WHO DO I BOOK WITH?

There are countless tour agencies and travel agents that offer trips to Galápagos. Your friendly hometown travel agency can help, but if you want someone with a little more experience in the islands, I personally recommend the following:

Metropolitan Touring: Metropolitan is an Ecuadorian agency which has been working in Galápagos for decades. They have international offices and agents and can combine your Galápagos tour with visits to mainland Ecuador, Peru (Machu Picchu!), Argentina or other South American points of interest. Metropolitan is best for those with a little more money to spend who want to hire one of the top local agencies to make sure there is always someone to meet them at the airport, make sure their tour van is ready to go, etc. URL: www.metropolitan-touring.com

Columbus Travel: Based in Quito, Columbus specializes in Galápagos and trips to mainland Ecuador. They are experienced and professional and have a long track record of satisfied clients. Columbus is best if you know you want to go to Ecuador and

Galápagos but don’t know exactly what you want to do: their staff will patiently talk you through any questions you may have and find the right cruise/tour/itinerary for you. They know all of the ships, and therefore any budget level is welcome to book with them. URL: www.columbusecuador.com

Come to Galápagos: A new agency based in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno (San Cristóbal Island), Come to Galápagos is run by an American/Ecuadorian couple who are residents of the islands and therefore have local knowledge other agencies lack. They specialize in land-based tours (as opposed to cruises) and pride themselves on individual attention. They also recently sponsored the first ever Galápagos marathon! Best for those who want a land-based tour or who prioritize helping local communities, a foundation of Come to Galápagos. URL:

Galápagos Travel Line is run by Rodrigo Miño (formerly of Columbus Travel) who has a great many years of experience in the industry and contacts with boats and operators. Miño and his team are friendly, helpful and accommodating in finding you a trip to suit your needs and budget. URL: www.galapagostraveline.com
