Arequipa has a number of decent Spanish schools. There are a few very interesting museums and lots of old colonial buildings just drenched in history, such as La Compañia or La Catedral. For the outdoorsy traveler, Arequipa’s activities include horseback riding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking and climbing.

A visit to La Cruz del Condor is a highlight for any trip. Colca Canyon has its own historical draws too—take a trip to Coporaque to see one of the oldest churches in the region.
