V!VA User‘s Description

The Arequipa and Colca Canyon region is packed with things to see and do for travelers with all tastes.

Arequipa has a number of decent Spanish schools. There are a few very interesting museums and lots of old colonial buildings just drenched in history, such as La Compañia or La Catedral. For the outdoorsy traveler, Arequipa’s activities include horseback riding, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, hiking and climbing.

For those heading out of town, activities in the Colca Canyon include all of the hiking, climbing, rafting and climbing opportunities that are also available in close proximity to Arequipa, but in addition, there is the chance to see the mighty condor. A visit to La Cruz del Condor is a highlight for any trip. Colca Canyon has its own historical draws too—take a trip to Coporaque to see one of the oldest churches in the region.
