CasaDeAvila was built in 1930 as a hotel in the middle of town. Reconditioned and reopened in 2004 the hotel offers now 18 nice, clean rooms surrounding a pleasant garden dotted with chairs and umbrellas. Single, double, twin and triple rooms are available. All rooms have comfortable beds, basic furniture and a private bathroom with hot water and WiFi Internet (some have cable TV). Linens are included and towels are changed daily. Other services include a cafeteria, internet room, guest’s kitchen, lobby, and restroom. Information on area tours, flights, buses and activities is available.

CasaDeAvila also runs one of the best Spanish schools in town. Private and group classes are offered on a weekly basis or hourly ($6/hr). Packages including accommodation are available.

Cooking classes with Armando, the owner or one of the chefs, are also offered. The classes are two hours long and offer a great opportunity to discover flavors of local fruits and vegetables, improve your Spanish and get to know the locals. Classes are also open to non-guests and the price is $10-15 depending on the size of the group.

Reliable local tours are offered and these include horseback riding, a bull-fighting experience, city tours, Colca Canyon treks and more. These can be booked directly through CaseDeAvila.

I'm travelling in Peru for the last 3 weeks, and being in Casa de Avila was quite a difference compared to the rest. Staff was great and called me by my name after the second day. I planned to stay for 2 days in this town and finished staying for 7.
