Peru Adventure Tours offers the full gamut of hiking and walking tours around Arequipa as well as sandboarding to nearby Ica. Unlike many operators in the area, they do not have rafting trips but instead have ATV tours and horseback riding trips.

A four hour tour of Arequipa costs $35 for an English speaking guide, including transportation and entrance to all attractions. During high season a 5-day trek to Machu Picchu costs $345.

Their tours are more expensive than other operators but they claim to pay Peruvian taxes that many companies cleverly evade due to Peru's loose tax structure. Additionally, their employees are paid higher guaranteed wages than other operators in the area.

They also have a 'responsible tourism' policy that all guides and staff have been trained in. Make the decision for yourself, but understand this is one of the reasons for the higher prices.

It was great to find Peru Adventure Tours. They offer the best alternatives , like native villages where there are never any other hikers. After sending hundreds of emails to many tour operators in Peru, we finally found Peru Adventure Tours. They were effective in responding our questions by email. Saul was very informative and he added to and changed our 17-day travel plan in Peru. Thank for your patience and help arranging the best luxury vacation in Peru. You had good 4x4s, camping gear, and the best cook and camp staff that we have ever had before. We plan to come back in 2010. We will bring our own bikes and cycle from Cusco to Manaus. Inka Hiking to Machu Picchu

We found Peru Adventures in the South American Handbook 2007, and we did the bike expedition from Cuzco to Manu Park, which was a perfect adventure expedition. We arranged the Inca Trail hike (4 days) and the staff did an excellent job; we really appreciated the hard work they put in to satisfy our curiosity during our jounrey through Peru.
