Around Arequipa

If you’re aching to get out of the city and into the countryside, or craving something a bit more active, the small villages near Arequipa present plenty of choices for you. Hop a bus to SabandĂa where you may visit a colonial mill and go horseback riding, or to Yura to soak in the hot springs. The Majes Valley offers wineries, ancient rock paintings and rafting. For day hikes, head to Cayma, Yarabamba or Quequeña. If you really need to get your adrenaline rushing, then hit the other white waters of the region’s rivers or climb Misti, Chachani and the other volcanoes.
