Getting to and from Cabanaconde

Cabanaconde is a 5-6 hour bus journey away from Arequipa (2 hours on from Chivay). Buses servicing this route include Reyna and Andalucia and they arrive and leave from the main plaza in Cabanaconde. While it is possible to take an overnight / early morning bus and begin hiking on the same day, those planning to hike from Cabanaconde are advised to stay overnight in Cabanaconde prior to their hike, as the journey from Arequipa can be fairly gruelling. Buses leave Arequipa at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.
