The Lazy Dog Inn - Hotel Huaraz - Peru

An ecological adobe lodge, the Lazy Dog Inn has small cabins with fireplaces, home-cooked meals, horses, an outdoor firepit and community volunteer projects, all set in gorgeous surroundings. The lodge is run by a Canadian couple who have been living in Peru for over 10 years. Rooms are spacious and the cabins sleep up to four people. Prices include breakfast and dinner (as well as WiFi and use of the sauna) and lunch is available at an extra cost. The lodge borders on the national park and is 1.2 hours from the town on foot, or about 10 minutes in a car. Transport can be arranged from Huaraz, costing between $14-17 for up to four people.

Getting There:

To get there, you can either take a 3.1 km road from Marian/Cachipampa, but beware, this road is rutted and occasionally impassible. Another alternative is to take the 12 km road, called Via Wilcahuaín Ruins, from Huaraz. The second route is better maintained and more easily passable by car
