Hotel

By Ricardo Segreda

At the Hotel Carlos V in Cusco, single rooms start at $20, slightly higher than the norm, and an index of the slightly higher value that is the quid-pro-quo of higher prices. The rooms are fresher, cleaner and simply better than what you get at most cheaper hotels and hostels in the area, and they come with all the expected niceties, such as hot running water, cable television, a continental breakfast, security boxes, and most importantly for Cusco's chilly evenings, heated rooms. Hotel Carlos V also has its own restaurant, La Gruta. Strangely enough, it does not accept credit cards, only cash.
