Libertador is a small chain of ultra-luxury hotels operating in Peru. The Cusco branch, the Cusco Hotel Libertador, was one of Conde Naste's top places to stay in 2009 and the hotel chain has received a number of awards and accolades over the years. Occupying the former home of Francisco Pizarro, conquistador of Peru, the building was constructed on the foundation of an Inca temple, and some of the stonework is still visible-you can admire it in the "Rumi" bar while enjoying a pisco sour. The well-furnished rooms are comfortable and heated and come with cable TV, minibar and internet access, and the service is top-notch. The restaurant, "Inti Raymi," occasionally brings in traditional dancers, and there is also a spa.
