Hostel

By Ricardo Segreda

As that old song goes, "you gotta have a gimmick," and for Teqsicocha it is that each room is outfitted with Castilian-rococo furniture, which may or may not be authentic. There are fancy bedspreads, too, so you might want to overlook the threadbare quality of the rooms themselves. The manager admits that the hostel is still very much a work-in-progress. However, it starts at only $10, so this might appeal to travellers wanting to save a few dollars, and it is within walking distance of the Plaza de Armas, San Blas, and many restaurants and shops. The hostel also offers an on-site medical service, breakfast, a safety deposit box, and free movies in a coffee lounge, every day, from 5 to 7 p.m.
