Mandela’s Bar is a fantastic bar/restaurant hidden behind the Cathedral, serving a mixture of Peruvian, contemporary and traditional South African food (spicy chicken, etc.) and a full bar (juices and cocktails). This bar has the best views in Cusco at night, by far, over the main Plaza and beyond. Mandela’s also has regular live music on weekends and weeknights (local tribal groups, jazz, rock and blues) from 10 p.m. The atmosphere is homey, with candles in the main area, sofas in the lounge area and a chill-out section with cushions. Average costs: $3+ for a main course.
