Restaurant

By Ricardo Segreda

As you walk up the flight of stairs to the Restaurant Aldea Yanapay you are greeted by the colorful crayon impressions of children's artwork. The Restaurant Aldea Yanapay itself could be mistaken for a kindergarten, with cushions tossed on the floor as an index of its relaxed atmosphere. But this is indeed a real restaurant, open from morning until night, offering up everything from huevos rancheros and Greek bread with tzatziki sauce, or pasta with bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes, Irish coffee and sangria. The Restaurant Aldea Yanapay raises funds for the non-profit Aldea Yanapay Project, an alternative school for disadvantaged children. The range of shows includes local musicians, clowns, and, not infrequently, tourists inspired to show off their guitar-picking aptitude.

Traveler Reviews of

Great change of pace

Rating: 100%

We heard about Yanapay from a stranger (a friend we had never met before) in the streets of Cusco. We had no idea what to expect so we were pleasantly surprised at the playful unique atmosphere and the great food. Thank you for giving us a memorable evening to share with our friends back in Maryland, USA.
