Many hostels just north of the Plaza de Armas in the “artist community” of San Blas are a little bit more expensive, but the Amaru Hostel is the only one that includes “American breakfast,” featuring eggs and fruit salad, rather than the standard continental breakfast, that is included in the price. The hotel is a very pleasant place to stay, with large-windows in its rooms and a garden in the back. For colder nights, heating is available for an additional $3, negotiable for groups. There is a book exchange, and an overall friendly atmosphere.
