If you stroll up Cuesta San Blas and keep heading north, the path changes its name to Suytucato, and on your left you will see the sign for the Hospedaje El Artesano de San Blas, one of the best little secrets for those really wanting a bargain without giving up a decent night's comfort. This is a first-rate backpacker's hostel, in a clean and well-maintained Spanish colonial facility, with hot water, spacious rooms and a well-kept common kitchen area, all for a mere ten soles, or three dollars for a private room, five dollars for a shared room.

Traveler Reviews of

great place in the heart of artist neighborhood

Rating: 0%

This place was wonderful- clean rooms, hot water, beautiful courtyard, very tranquilo atmosphere, and CHEAP. It is perfect for those who want a more authentic Cusco experience, off the gringo trail, and aren't interested in the international hostel vibe. Will stay there again!

Lovely hotel, great value

Rating: 100%

I really enjoyed my stay at this place, so much so that I used it as my base in Cusco while I was there on my trip, returning after periods spent outside of the city. The owners are friendly and accommodating. They will store your extra luggage for you while you head out on a trek, for no extra charge. One small inconvenience is that there is no road to this place. You do have to walk up quite a steep hill with your stuff. Still, it is worth it when you get there.
