Hospedaje Sambleño

Around the corner from the Plazoleta San Blas, Hospedaje Sambleño offers a cheap price--single rooms at $6--in a great location. You can buy breakfast for a little extra at its own in-house Niña Niña restaurant. The rooms are spare and even a bit stale, with bare wooden floors. When we visited it, the receptionist was smoking a cigarette behind his desk in the lobby, an indication of what you can expect here. If none of this is an issue for you, and you are on a tight budget, you might not mind. Otherwise, as the Romans used to say, caveat emptor.

live good

We have been to Cusco twice. Both times we stayed at the Hospedaje Inka. This place is just nice, simple and not complicated at all. We have been to very expensive places, but we loved it here. Both times we were there they took care of our luggage while we went to Aguas Calientes. Two days later, we came back and picked up our stuff, no hassle, no problem. This was a wonderful experience for us. We are planning on going again in 2009 and guess where we are going to stay at?

Dirt Poor

To start the comforter had many stains on it. The sheets more than likely were just turned over after the last people left. Hot water lasts for a maximum of 5 min. There is no water after 10 pm, so don't expect to brush your teeth or go to the bathroom after this time. The employees are rude after a certain time of the night. The guy watching the door often falls asleep and takes a while to wake up when the bell is rung. The rooms on the whole are dirty and the bathrooms are not cleaned after people check out. One couple found a used condom in the trash, which should be emptied after people check out, but obviously was not. We were told it would be 35 soles for two of us, but after these problems we decided we were not paying more than 25, which was not a problem and I think we could have paid less without any trouble.

Bad

The owner overcharged on the tours and transport. The place was dirty (the toilet especially).
