Located in the bustling artesian neighborhood of San Blas, Pacha-Papa offers an intimate setting filled with modern art and candlelit tables. For more informal dining, there is also a fireplace area with comfy sofas. Like the restaurant's art and music selection, the dishes are funky and flavorful with a distinct Peruvian and international flair. In fact, owner Tanya Miller previously worked in several London restaurants.
On the menu you'll find roasted guinea pig and alpaca anticucho, in addition to other Peruvian specialties like tamales and quinoa soup. Also recommended are the beef tenderloin in red-wine-and-onion sauce, and the tropical chicken curry with bananas, peaches and strawberries. The hip, laidback atmosphere and reasonable prices appeal to a young crowd who come for the food and popular happy hour (daily 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.). The Sunday roast (by reservation only) has become famous among locals and features a roast chicken, potatoes, veggies and homemade apple pie.
