Each morning the aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries wafts from the walk-in oven at El Buen Pastor and throughout the streets of San Blas, driving taste buds to distraction in anticipation of pan con crema and buttery empanadas. Cream-filled cakes, caramel churros, fluffy empanadas, excellent juices, dozens of varieties of bread and goodies of all shapes and sizes can be promptly wrapped up to go or quickly served with a cup of coffee in the upstairs dining area. Because it’s a non-profit organization benefiting a home for orphan girls, pastry lovers can feel slightly less guilty about making multiple trips in a single day. Open Monday-Saturday.
