Intipunku

If you don't have the time or energy to make the climb up to Huayna Picchu and Temple of the Moon, then you may prefer to take the trail leading from the guardian's kiosk behind the Sacred Stone to Intipunku, the main entrance to Machu Picchu from the Inca Trail. Intipunku, also known as the Sun Gate, consists of two large stones that correspond to the winter and summer solstices, and on these dates the gates are illuminated by laser-like beams of light. In addition to their symbolic importance, the gates also provide remarkable views of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu.
