We recently completed an alternative Inka Trek to Machu Picchu through the volunteer and tourist organisation Inka Magik, working closely with a local Quechua guide, which takes in the warm jungle, hot springs off the tourist trail, horseriding and staying with his family in a rustic adobe lodge surrounded by mango and papaya trees. The tour was excellent overall although the transport to get there was adventurous and sometimes hair-raising! Definitely worth the journey and it is good to go on a more community based and varied trip to Machu Picchu.
