This is right next door the Presidente Hotel, is managed by the same company, and very much resembles it except that by defining itself as a "hostel" rather than "hotel," and virtually functions as the "no frills" version of its more expensive neighbor. The prices--single rooms go for $30 and doubles go for $35--are fixed, regardless of season, and there is no cable television and no bathtubs with Jacuzzi jets, but rather standard shower stalls. Otherwise you are treated to the same breakfast buffet, in the same in-house restaurant, as guests at the Presidente Hotel, and the Hostal Machu Picchu has a back terrace offer a great opportunity to sit and watch the river roll on.
