From the front courtyard of Hotel Munay Tika you can hear the hum of the river as it tumbles down from Incan ruins and makes its way into the Río Urubamba. If the lull of babbling brook doesn't suit your fancy, weave around the bright yellow and red buildings and cozy up with your book among the flowers and silence in the back courtyard.

It is run by a family who has taken great care to manicure the inside of the accommodation as well as the outside. The rooms are tidy, colorful and each has a private bath with hot water.

The hotel also offers Internet service, national and international calling, and room service. And because it's located on the road connecting the rail station and town, the only noise you're likely to contend with is that of the river.

A nice hostel to stay at, near the center of the city, the stations and the Inca sights. Only one snag: The don't always clean the sheets! So, use your travelsheets to be safe!
