While neighboring Cusco sits at approximately 3300 meters a.s.l., the Sacred Valley’s elevation is approximately 2500 meters, making acclimatization easier. If you are arriving by air from sea level it is generally recommended to give yourself at least two days to get used to the altitude.
General advice to beat potential altitude sickness, or soroche, is to drink lots of water and lay off the alcohol.
