This imperial tribute to the founder, Manco Capac, of the Incan Empire is 45-meters (148 feet) high and can be found west of the city. As with the Kuntur Wasi lookout, the Cerrito of Huajsapata provides a spectacular view of the city and Lake Titicaca. Manco Capac stands before a wide concrete lot, popular with young amateur soccer players. There are rumors that inside the monument are subterranean portals that connect Puno to the Qoricanchana Temple in Cusco. Of course, if there really were such a thing, local Peruvians would long since have capitalized it for maximum profit.
