One advantage of walking as you head east towards Lake Titicaca and the main port of departure in Puno, Puerta Lacustre, is that it provides an ample opportunity to check out the scores of local vendors, selling folk art, hand-made clothing, food, and many other items. Combined with the view of Lake Titicaca looming to the east, hanging out on the docks provides a pleasant immersion into local culture and geography.
