It is one thing to have visited the world-famous floating islands, but how about telling your friends you actually slept on them, in a reed hut no less? This is what the Kamasaraki Inn/Lodge Los Uros offers, your opportunity to know what it is like to live among the inhabitants, at costs ranging from no more than five to eight dollars depending on the season. You can figure in the price of the boat trip, to Puno and back, for an additional three dollars, or more depending on who brings you. Unlike the Uros homes, the reeds here are stacked, tee-pee like, with two beds, pillows, and several wool blankets each. The owner, Silverio, also manages a restaurant, in case you are extending your trip for more than an evening, and once there you can negotiate for visits, via traditional reed boat, to the other islands. The nights do get cold, however, so be prepared.

Getting There:
There are many tourist boats leaving from the main dock in Puno, charging anywhere from three to six dollars a ride, depending on the number of passengers available.
