Kamisaraki Inn/Lodge Los Uros

It is one thing to have visited the world-famous floating islands, but how about telling your friends you actually slept on them, in a reed hut no less? This is what the Kamasaraki Inn/Lodge Los Uros offers, your opportunity to know what it is like to live among the inhabitants. Unlike the Uros homes, the reeds here are stacked, tee-pee like, with two beds, pillows, and several wool blankets each. The owner, Silverio, also manages a restaurant, in case you are extending your trip for more than an evening, and once there you can negotiate for visits, via traditional reed boat, to the other islands. The nights do get cold, however, so be prepared.

The cost is about $15/person and it includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. For $20/person you get the three meals, a tour of the islands, cultural exchange,  and a cultural night with bonfire. Ask for Silverio Lujano Jilapa.

There is also the Brisas del Titikaka to help you arrange your trip around the floating islands. Located at Av. Titicaca Nº 579. Call them at 51-369011 /  951468429 or email them at brisasdeltitikakauros@hotmail.com /  brisasdeltitikakauros@yahoo.com.
