This stylish and funky corner restaurant is among the best in trend among Peruvian restaurateurs to combine Andean food with nouveau twists, such as with their Alpaca offerings (six total), Alpaca meat cooked in figs and red wine sauce. Or a beef fillet with huacatay herb, cheese, and pecans. The house specials go for $10 and include appetizers, and of the latter, you can sample such Andean specialties as pureed potato with green herbs and trout. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This place wants to be extra stylish, but our experience reminds me more of a fast food place. Food was prepared within 10 minutes, but the drinks were not served at all, even after a friendly reminder. Food quality was ok, but no more.
We ate in Arequipa and in Puno and had very good meals in both restaurants.
Coca Kintu (in Puno on Jr Lima and in Arequipa at Calle San Francisco 302A, Arequipa, phone (51-54) 224-380 or 330-568, E-mail: cocakintu@gmail.com). It was described as "fina comida novo andina," and it really was. We had two entrées (a wonderful Sopa Incaica quinoa soup and nachos, which we loved), one main plate, one dessert and a Chilean wine (Cassillero del Diablo, Carmenere US$18). The meal cost US$40.59, and we rated it 8/10. In Puno we had the Sopa Incaica again and loved it. We were even given the recipe for it!
