Overview
The most popular restaurants in Puno are located along the popular pedestrian street, Jirón Lima. This is a good place to eat if you're in the mood for wood-fired pizza or traditional Peruvian cooking. Try the local chairo dish, a soup that consists of beef or lamb, potatoes, beans, squash, cabbage, chuño (potato flour), wheat, and chalona (dried mutton). The local fish are also excellent, particularly trucha (trout), pejerrey, and ishpi. The two restaurants at the Colón Inn are also highly recommended.
