You'll have no problem finding tour companies in Puno; however, you should be wary of unofficial tour sellers, jalagringos, who target tourists. A good policy is to compare prices, only use official agencies, and only pay at the main office not in the street. Most agencies organize trips to the islands of Taquile and Amantaní, and other places. Kayaking trips around the lake can also be arranged at a number of companies. For a unique experience inquire about island homestays, which offer unforgettable encounters with local communities.
