You can pick up information about Juliaca and the surrounding region at the iPeru office, which is located at the Arrival section of the airport; it is only open at flight times (Aeropuerto Inca Manco Capac, Sala de Llegadas. In town, information is available at Direcetur, the regional tourism office (Mnday-Friday 9 .m.-3 p.m. Jr Noriega 191, piso 3. The police station is located a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas (Jr San Martín and Jr Ramón Castilla. Tel: 322-091).

Typical banking hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m. All have ATMs.

Keeping in Touch

Internet cafés and phone centers (locutorios) are common, especially on Jirón San Román, near Plaza Bolognesi. Serpost, the post office, is two blocks north of the Plaza de Armas (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 8a.m.-4 p.m. Jr Sandia 278).

Medical

The main public health facilities are Hospital Carlos Monge Medrano (Carretera Huancané Km 2. Tel. 321-750 / 32-1901) and Hospital Essalud (Av José Santos Chocano s/n. Tel. 322-990 / 32-7337. Many pharmacies operate in Juliaca, including BTL (Jr San Román 270, Tel: 326-817).
