Lake Titicaca Tours

Puno is the only city on Lago Titicaca with a quantity of tour operators. The majority arrange visits to Islas Uros, Taquile, Amantaní and the other lake islands. If going to the islands with a tour agency, make sure guests are spread out and rotated amongst the families, and that the established price is being paid to your hosts. Many companies also offer outings to Sillustani and other archaeological sites, and to check out the colonial architecture and markets of towns like Chucuito, Lampa and Juli. Some agencies have specialties, like kayaking or sustainable tourism that promote community projects. In Puno and Juliaca, travel agencies also make train, bus and plane reservations.

On Peru’s Lake Titicaca Islands, guides are of the communities. Most only speak Spanish and Aymara or Quechua. They lead nature hikes and treks to local archaeological ruins. Other islanders provide kayaking, sailing and other boating adventures.
