The Malec贸n Eco Tur铆stico hugs the lakeshore for several kilometers to the north and south of Puno鈥檚 port. It鈥檚 a relaxing place to sit and read or have a picnic on a sunny day. Walking down the avenue towards the port, you pass by the Mercado Artesanal and men renting boats with fanciful bows. Just before the docks is Plazoleta del Faro, marking the beginning of the Malec贸n de los Incas. The causeway across the bay is lined with abstract sculptures. The northern half of this walkway passes through wetlands where Puna Teal (with a striking light-blue beak), Neotropic Cormorant, Titicaca Grebe, Common Moorhen and other waterfowl may be sighted.
