Use common-sense safety measures when withdrawing cash after dark and at the bus terminal. Do not change money on the streets. At night, keep to well-lit streets. Particular care must be taken going to Huajsapata, Kuntur Wasi and the other miradores. Armed robberies have occurred, even to small groups. Leave all valuables at your hotel and carry a photocopy of your passport instead of the real document. If you experience any problems, see the tourism police. Use protection against the strong sun. Tap water is not potable without treatment.
