Hotel
The La Quinta de Allison resides on a quiet side street in Barranco. Inconspicuous and modest, this is one of the cheaper hotels in the area. Rooms tend to be smaller but are very comfortable. The bathrooms are decent, and some of the more expensive rooms have whirlpool tubs. Interior rooms are tend to be a little darker, and rooms with windows onto the street can be noisy at times. There is also an on-site restaurant, room service and bar.

the staff is very friendly & helpful, and for as long as i've been going back there, the personnel has remained virtually the same; they always remember me and are happy to see me upon my return visits.
the price is very reasonable (about $15 usd per night), & i love the 24 hour room service! (sometimes i don't leave my room for days!) i can always order a few liters of beer in the middle of the night after everything else is closed, and if i decide to sleep in, i can have the american breakfast sent to my room in the middle of the afternoon.
they also offer a reaonably priced laundry service, which is very convenient, as i always seem to run out of clean clothes.
this hotel is in a great location & it is within walking distance of everything. the beach is about a 5-10 minute walk, and there are literally hundreds of cafes & restaurants to be found within a few minutes of walking. there is also a casino a few blocks away, and there are many clubs, bars, & convenience stores all within a few blocks.
the security of the hotel is very good; there is always someone attending the front desk, and no one except paying guests are allowed to enter the hotel. if anyone comes to visit, the desk calls your room to ask if it's ok, but only after they have provided proper ID.
overall, i would say La Quinta de Allison is probably one of the better hotels in Barranco, however there are a few downsides. the beds are kind of hard & not very comfortable, and the pillows are hard & flat. there is no air conditioning or heat in the rooms, & at certain times of the year, this can be rather uncomfortable. and while the front desk will allow you to run a tab during your stay, i would advise settling the bill on a daily basis, as i've run into a few minor descrepancies after i let my bill go for too long.
in conclusion, i would like to say that i highly recommend La Quinta de Allison for travelers looking for value, services & hospitality, good location & convenience.
