When asked if they know "El Suizo," most limeños will respond, "Is that still there?" And yes, after 50 years it is still churning out the same wonderful dishes--mussels a la suisse, fresh sea bass and their most famous recipe (which isn't even on the menu), Corvina al Pardo, a delicious sea bass wrapped in a spinach sauce. Cooked however you’d like, the fish can also be steamed and served with burnt butter and capers over a perfectly boiled potato; this delicacy has a savory, delicate flavor. For dessert, try the apple pancakes with caramel. Hint: Eat them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or else you will have to use a chisel.
While catering to Lima's intelligentsia and academic crowds, the restaurant is situated on a small bay surrounded by impressive cliffs. It's easy to watch surfers from here, and when the sea is high it has some of the best waves in all of the Pacific, fit only for professional surfers.
Prices are average and the wine list limited, but you can bring your own bottle. The Pisco Sours are classic and the strawberry cocktails are unique. Arrange for a taxi to pick you up.
