Location:
Plaza de Armas
Central Lima, Lima, Peru

Historical Building

V!VA User‘s Description

On the northeast side of the Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace is one of the city's architectural delights. The home of the president was built in the 1920s and 30s in several phases by several architects, and was once the home of Marquis Francisco Pizarro, founder of the city of Lima. The mostly baroque style is reminiscent of Peruvian colonial art. There is a ceremonial changing of the guard every day at noon worth seeing, and a free guided tour of the palace that must be arranged 48 hours in advance at the Office of Public Relations around the corner.
