Central Lima, Lima, Peru
City Park
Featuring some of the most exquisite architecture in Lima, the Parque de la Cultura downtown is a tribute to Lima’s urban planners from the 19th century. It was conceived and built in 1868 as the Parque de la Exposición, and is still referred to this way by many locals. Its mix of fountains, Victorian houses and modern art make this a popular favorite for Lima families and lovers. It is also home to two theatre companies that showcase cutting-edge work for both children and adults. Currently, and perhaps as a way of reducing crime and litter, only one or two of its high-iron gates are open at any time.
