Gran Hotel Bolívar - Hotel Lima - Peru

Conveniently located on the Plaza de San Martín, the Gran Hotel Bolívar is a stately, elegant white building dating from 1924. It was specifically constructed to accommodate visiting heads of state and dignitaries who were coming to Lima to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the pivotal battle of Ayacucho, and it shows. Arched doorways, crystal chandeliers and tasteful rooms and corridors abound. There are several large salons for special events such as meetings and weddings. The Gran Hotel Bolívar's list of previous guests includes many presidents and leaders of Latin American countries, as well as Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles and even the Rolling Stones. Although expensive by old town standards, the room rates are surprisingly reasonable for such a historic and well-located building. Mid-range travelers may want to consider upgrading for a night. Breakfast is included in the rates.
