Well-located on the same block as the San Francisco church and only a couple of blocks from the main city plaza, Hotel España is a boisterous, fun hostal favored by international backpackers. Check out the rooftop garden and cafe: they keep interesting birds and other animals there. The dorm-style rooms are among the cheapest in Lima. Bring your own lock to use one of their small lockers to store your things.
