La Rana Verde (The Green Frog) has made a name for itself over the last 30 years and should be on your agenda, as it serves some of the best seafood in town. The restaurant is built on stilts over the water, and although it is a little on the expensive side, the cuisine is superb and is served in generous quantities. Of course, being on the ocean and all, the specialty is fish--flounder, sea bass and scallops, which are all caught daily. You can even watch your lunch being delivered, freshly caught, to the restaurant's pier by fishing boats. Served a variety of ways, it is up to you to decide how you would like your fish cooked. Since the restaurant is over the sea and is built of wood, it is kind of creaky and damp, and you may get splashed when the sea is high, but with the open windows all around, you can watch the coming and going of the boats and ships of one of the largest ports in South America. Plan carefully, it is only open for lunch.
