Lima Things to See and Do

Lima has enough activities to entertain the most determined sightseer. A tentative itinerary may begin with a morning stroll to the quiet refuge of one of Lima’s many plazas or parks surrounded by landmark buildings and beautiful colonial architecture. Wander into a church or monastery that highlights the dominating role of religion throughout Peru’s history. Be sure to visit a few of the fascinating museums followed by a traipse through various Inca ruins that are set against Lima’s modern backdrop. Callao is a pleasant day trip from the city.

Several websites list special exhibits and happenings in the city: Siente Mag (www.sientemag.com), Lima en Escena (www.limaenescena.com), Peru This Week (www.peruthisweek.com) and Voces – Revista Cultural de Lima (www.vocesperu.com). Literary events are covered by Red Literaria Peruana (www.literatura.pe) and Casa de la Literatura Peruana (www.casadelaliteratura.gob.pe).

Many museums are closed on Monday, and during the lunch hour (1-2 p.m.).

Other Activity pages in Lima that may be of interest: Miraflores Activities, Chorrillos Activities, Barranco Activities, San Isidro Activities, San Borja Activities, Central Lima Activities and Pueblo Libre Activities.
