Lima has enough activities to entertain the most determined sightseer. A tentative itinerary may begin with a morning stroll to the quiet refuge of one of Lima’s many plazas or parks surrounded by landmark buildings and beautiful colonial architecture. Wander into a church or monastery that highlights the dominating role of religion throughout Peru’s history. Be sure to visit a few of the fascinating museums followed by a traipse through various Inca ruins that are set against Lima’s modern backdrop. Callao is a pleasant day trip from the city.
