Banks in Lima

ATMs are readily available in Lima, with many offering 24-hour service. Just approach them with caution, in particular at night, since many thieves target them. In general casas de cambio, or foreign-exchange bureaus, tend to give better rates than a bank for cash. They can be found throughout the city, with the highest concentrations being in touristy areas, such as  Miraflores.

American Express

Lost or stolen travelers checks can be replaced here; however, they do not cash checks. They are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Banco Continental

This bank chain in Lima is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

BCP

One of the more prevalent bank chains in Lima. All branches have 24-hour ATMs that make cash advances on Visa. Their bank also will change Amex, Citicorp and Visa travelers checks. They are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.

If you need money wired to you, this is a good option. They are open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Western Union

Another strong choice if you need money wired to you in Peru. There are various locations in all of the country, so you are sure to find one that is convenient for you.
