As a huge, thriving metropolis, Lima can be overwhelming when it comes to planning the day. There are enough museums, churches and colonial buildings to exhaust even the most ambitious tourist in town. There are many parks and plazas to explore and most are within walking distance of each other. For the history buffs, there are a handful of Inca ruins scattered around the city that oddly contrast with the more modern additions. Athletic travelers can combine their love for exercise with their love of exploration and experience any of the biking, swimming, surfing or paragliding tours in town. For the traveler that would like to sample a little of everything, careful planning will make the best of their time.

There are quite a few companies that offer tours in Lima as well as trips around Peru and it's worth it to do a little research to compare operators and individual tours that are offered. Tours outside of Lima tend to be cheaper if organized in cities closest to tour destinations. Additionally, there are travel agencies in Lima that can assist with your plans and offer advice.
