La Rosa Náutica

Location:
Espigón 4 (Pier 4) Circuito de Playas
Miraflores, Lima, Peru

Restaurant

By Michelle Hopey

La Rosa Náutica is not only a top-of-the-line, first-class restaurant with elegant décor, but the cuisine includes some of the freshest, most creative gourmet dishes in all of Lima.

Perched out on Pier 4 along Lima's beachfront in Miraflores, the restaurant is literally on the water and most seats in the house overlook the waves and  the horizon. La Rosa serves everything from unique seafood combos, like the ceviche norteño (a mix of sole, scallops and flounder in a large sea scallop with corn, chili pepper and fried yucca), to grilled meats, poultry, pastas and outstanding salads, like the warm goat cheese salad (tossed with mixed greens, sun-dried tomatoes and caramelized figs). Although La Rosa Náutica serves up a serious selection of seafood, the restaurant is sure to even please the vegetarian in your party. They also have many vegetarian options, including the mushroom ceviche (a savory mix of mushrooms, peppers, garlic, ginger and hot chilis).

If you can't afford the prices, which can sometimes run as high as $30 a plate, go just for for a drink at the restaurant's bar, El Espigón Bar. You can watch the sunset while drinking a Pisco sour overlooking the ocean —it's a surreal, romantic experience that is difficult to be had anywhere else in town.

Rosa Nautica

Food and service was amazing. The view was gorgous.

Nice, but overpriced

Rating: 50%

La Rosa Nautica is a very impressive place to eat in a city without many good choices. However, the prices are too high compared to the quality of the products they offer.  But, it is worth having a coffee and a piece of cake at sunset, the view is really amazing!

Beautiful Views, excellent food

Rating: 100%

The best salad I have ever had! After traveling through Cusco and Machu Picchu the previous week where I was unable to eat fresh salad and vegetables, the salad was a slice of heaven. Warm goat cheese and figs made it simply wonderful. The sea bass was delcious, as was the octopus served with three sauces. It is definitely worth the splurge.

Bad place to celebrate a wedding

Rating: 0%

Last Visit: April 2007 We live in the U.S., but my husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding in Peru, where I am from originally. We had a reception at La Rosa Nautica for 80  close friends and relatives. We were charged $31.00 per person for the Criolla Menu, which consisted of a couple appetizers, causa rellena de cangrejo (crab) and the main dish was the famous Lomo Saltado. My mom tasted the food just to make sure we made the right decision. She said the food was good and a fair portion. However, my wedding day was another story. The causa rellena didn't have good flavor the crab smelled bad, and my biggest dissapointment was the lomo saltado. It wasn't the same presentation that my mom saw the first time. It was cold, dry and didn't have much flavor at all. I was very upset and very frustated because the wedding reception was at 1 p.m. and most of my guests didn't have breakfast that morning. Everybody was expecting good food and a good portion, which never happenned... I felt La Rosa Nautica just cared about the tourists. They ensure good service in the other areas of the restaurant, but in the reception area it was a disaster! So, La Rosa Nautica is not the place to celebrate your wedding.
