History
Originally the site of an extensive olive grove outside of Lima, San Isidro was not founded until 1931, so it does not boast as much history as other neighborhoods. It is an upscale shopping and financial district, and boasts many of Lima's finest hotels. It is also home to many foreign embassies, including those of Switzerland, France, Morocco, Mexico and more.
The San Isidro Municipal Library is considered the most complete and extensive in Lima. San Isidro is known for green areas. One famous park is El Olivar, which boasts groves of olive trees, some of which were planted centuries ago. It was established as a national monument in 1959. San Isidro is also home to the swank Lima Golf Club.
