Before moving to San Isidro I spent a few nights at this wonderful old hotel. As the name implies, it was originally the country club for the golf course which is just opposite. It was built in the early 1900's, and is one of San Isidro's most famous landmarks. The rooms in the hotel are nicely furnished, well kept-up, and the decor is what you would expect in a fine hotel of this era. I've stayed in similar hotels all over the world (eg. Norfolk in Nairobi, Goodwood Park in Singapore, Connimara in Madras, etc.), and would rank this hotel as their equal. Bottom line is that if you like elegant old hotels, you should enjoy this place. BUT, the restaruant is very overpriced, and given the number of outstanding restaurants in Lima, I'd eat elsewhere!
