Iglesia De San Francisco - Historical Building Cajamarca - Peru

The construction of the elaborate Iglesia de San Francisco began in 1699, and continued until the 18th Century, though the church's belfries were only fully completed as recently as 1958. Inside the church you will find stone carvings, elegant altars and intricate ceilings. You can also visit the small Museo de Arte Religioso, which features colonial paintings and eerie catacombs. Attached to the church is the Convento de San Francisco, where Franciscan monks, who first came here in 1562, still live.
